What are the ties that bind Frankfurt and America? Is it more than just the thousands of American G.I.’s that were once stationed here and who crowded the streets of Sachsenhausen on the weekends? Is it because Frankfurt has skyscrapers, and is called the most American city in Germany?
Die Veranstaltung
The ties that bind Frankfurt and America go as far back as the late 1600’s and continue still today.
Do you want to know what Mark Twain had to say about us, or where Mrs. Lincoln stayed as she tried to escape her bad press in the U.S.? Which American Presidents have visited Frankfurt? What part did Frankfurt play in helping the North win the Civil War? Are you interested in knowing more about one of the greatest humanitarian relief efforts that was ever undertaken, the Berlin Airlift? What do Elvis or AFN have to do with Frankfurt?
As we walk through the city, we will discover how close and unique the bond is between America and Frankfurt, something that no other city in Germany can claim.
We will end the tour with some of the tastiest treats that America has to offer, Brownies and Chocolate Chip cookies, from Cookie in the Box.
